INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF SIGNAL PROCESSINGDragan Kusić, email: dragan.kusic@tecos.si
The IWSSIP 2018 Special Session on Industrial Applications of Signal Processing aims to bring together researchers and scientists that practically deal with processing of different analog and digital signals, which are obtained from different industrial processes (manufacturing sites). Topics include several practical industrial applications of signal processing like for instance: Stochastic Processes; Detection and Estimation; Spectral Analysis; Filtering; Signal Processing Systems; Pattern Recognition; Optical Signal Processing; Digital Signal Processing; Multi-dimensional Signal Processing; Sensor Signal Processing; Data Processing; Remote Sensing; Signal Processing Technology in Industrial field.Dragan Kusić received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maribor in 2008, and PhD in 2014. From 2009 he is member of TECOS Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre, where he worked on his PhD as a young researcher from industry cooperation with Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (University of Maribor), and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (University of Ljubljana). After his PhD in 2014 he is working at TECOS as a researcher and leader of department of mechatronics, primary on the field of injection moulding process control and optimization, and partly for Centre for applicable polymers Ltd. From 2010 he is also a member of The Institute of Measurement and Control in London, UK. His main research interests are:
- robust intelligent control;
- artificial intelligence;
- adaptive systems;
- polymer processing;
- industrial sensorics;
- signal processing etc.
He has been working as a coordinator and/or member on several applied R&D domestic and international research projects. He is also a lecturer at Faculty of Polymer Technology, in the fields of electrical engineering and mechatronics in correlation with plastics processing. He has practical skills in embedded systems development (electronics, design), construction, installation and system management of automated industrial processes. He appeared as an author or co-author of several scientific and conference articles.
DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTIONAleš Zamuda, email: ales.zamuda@um.si
The IWSSIP 2018 Special Session on Differential Evolution aims to bring together the designers and practitioners of Differential Evolution (DE) and algorithms alike, in the application areas of optimization. Topics include design and evaluation of DE, evolutionary mechanism, deep statistics, benchmarking, domain-specific applications, as well as perspectives in large-scale optimization, constraint handling, multi-modal optimization, multi-objective optimization, and discrete optimization.Aleš Zamuda is an Assistant Professor and Researcher at University of Maribor (UM), Slovenia. He received Ph.D. (2012), M.Sc. (2008), and B.Sc. (2006) degrees in computer science from UM. RADAR DATA INTERPRETATIONDušan Gleich, email: dusan.gleich@um.si
Understanding information provided by any sensor is very important. The goal of information extraction is to interpret data information to the end user. The scope of radar section is to discuss and present recent research work in the field of short range and small radar systems design and analysis and laser systems. The data provided by those systems can be further analyzed for several applications, as for example target detection, soil moisture estimation, movement extraction and detection, etc.Dušan Gleich received dipl. Ing., M.Sc. and P.hD degrees in 1997, 2000 and 2002 respectively, all in electrical engineering. He is a professor, at University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a head of Laboratory for Signal Processing and Remote Control, at Institute of Automation. Current research activities are in the field of data interpretation, short-range radar development, radar signal processing, through the wall imaging, soil moisture estimation and machine vision. He leads a research programme, Telmatics, which is sponsored by Slovenian Research Agency. He was a visiting scientist at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany, Oberpffafenhofen, from 2004-2005, 2009 and 2012. Over the last 10 years he has been involved into many industrial, national and international project. He is a member of the Scientific Council of Engineering Sciences at the SRA, and a vice dean for research at UM-FERI.
