IWSSIP Student Competition

Best Student Paper Competition

In the spirit of IWSSIP, which was founded with the specific goal of attracting and stimulating young researchers, the IWSSIP IPC has decided to organize an IWSSIP Student Best Paper Award competition, conceived as an opportunity to showcase student expertise in a friendly yet spirited competition.

Applicants’ eligibility: Undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and PhD students, in all fields of study, enrolled as degree seeking students in regular colleges or universities throughout the world, are eligible to submit their work for the IWSSIP Student Best Paper Award competition. Young professionals that have graduated such universities during the seven (7) month period prior to the starting date of the IWSSIP conference (i.e., 30.9.2011)) remain eligible to participate. Students should not be older than 35 years at the date of the start of the conference to which they submitted a paper and have to prove their student status by sending a scan of their student ID.

Papers’ acceptance conditions: Students, as defined above, must be the first author(s) of an acceptable IWSSIP Student Best Paper Award submission. One or two advisers are admitted as co-authors, without exceeding the number of students. The submissions must address the topics specified in the conference CfP. A student can be the author of at most two IWSSIP Student Best Paper Award submissions at a given conference. The number of papers in which participates an adviser is not limited. One author, student or adviser, must register, at the corresponding level of the registration fee specified on the conference site, for each paper taking part in the competition. Each attendee of an IWSSIP conference must register. A student can only win the competition if present at the conference.

Submissions’ evaluation: The papers submitted for the IWSSIP Student Best Paper Award will be evaluated and ranked by a board of five to nine professors and researchers appointed by the IWSSIP IPC. The number and tiles of the awards will depend on the number of topics defined in the CfP and will be specified each year. The authors will have to clearly mention that their paper is intended for the IWSSIP Student Best Paper Award competition at the moment of the accepted paper registration.
